Hello, Priya and Charlie here, the co-founders of ByTheMenu. Let us introduce ourselves so that you know who we are and why we want to help. We are two native English speakers from England who want to support the hospitality industry through the power of words.

Our decision to put this idea into motion came after we’d both lived abroad. Beween the two of us, we’ve lived in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Wales and have travelled to many other countries across the globe. We’re major foodies, so whilst being in these different countries, trying out the local food and eating at restaurants was a must.

During our time abroad, we noticed that there were many menus that had been poorly written in or translated into English. It was always such a shame because these writing errors often meant that these menus were overlooked by other non-natives. This prompted the question: as language professionals, how can we help this industry? With our writing expertise and our passion for food, we discovered a way to combine the two: menu proofreading, copywriting and translating. By removing the language mistakes, we realised we could help many businesses keep their doors open, share their food, and most importantly, grow.
